Bobble Cardi finished!

I finished the Bobble Cardigan! The body fits perfectly (though I still need buttons), the hood is.... weird. Too big one way, not big enough in another. Though if I never put it up, it's fine. Pictures as soon as I take them!

Finished my Central Park Hoodie

Here is my first Central Park Hoodie that I started in February. I kept getting sidetracked by other projects, but I finally finished it in order to wear it at Rhinebeck.

As you can see, this picture was taken during the festival. I used Cascade 220, about 5 1/2 skeins. I made a mistake and crossed the cable every 8 rows instead of 10, but it still looked good, so I made it consistent theoughout the whole garment. For my buttonholes, I used the One-row horizontal buttonhole technique.

As you can see from the Kid-in-the-candy-store smile on my face, I am extremely happy with this knit. So happy, that I decided to make a second one using Aruacania Naturewool. Here is my CPH2. I decided to make it all in one piece. Currently, it is about 8 inches long.

Bristow Cardigan

I´m Leandra from Vienna and this is my first time to be member of "Fall Cable KAL". Started the Bristow Cardigan yesterday, using red noname yarn (75%wool, 25%polyamid). As my yarn is thinner than that in the pattern suggested, I had to do a little maths, but I hope it works now.

This will be one project

This is one....I had purchased the yarn before the magazine was even out!! Now I have both, casting on this weekend.

Decisions, decisions...

So I was sure I wanted to do the Dollar and a half cardigan for the cable KAL, but now I'm not sure. I've been tempted by Mariah. I am in love with Mariah, and she is totally tempting me from every other project. But I'm totally not finding a yarn I like for it. It needs to be soft, and washable so I can wear it a lot, and a smooth wool or wool blend to show off the cables. And, for whatever reason, I need it to be green. Like, real bright green. Not granny apple green, nor olive green, but a harmonious in between. Very odd as I don't wear green, but for some reason I need it to be a bright, cheerful, not-too-yellow green. Ideas? Recommendations? HELP!

Central Park Hoodie

Here is my first cable project this fall. The popular Central Park Hoodie. And it deserves it's fame what a comfy, cozy sweater. I love it.

I knit this in Briggs and Little Heritage, the color is their Anniversary Twist. The yarn is rough, definitely not for next to the skin, but so far there has been no signs at all of pilling, this is one hard wearing sweater. I don't prefer the rougher yarn, but it's great for a jacket.

I have another cabled project on my needles, Anastasia. Hopefully, this one will be done before to much more time passes.

Denmark Socks

My first completed cable project this fall is Denmark by Nancy Bush from Knitting on the Road. This is a simple, easily memorized cable pattern that is pretty and very quick with sport weight yarn. For all the details and several more pictures, see this blog post.

Central Park Hoodie

I just saw a pic of the Central Park Hoodie & have fallen in love!! I've never seen a copy of "Knitscene" in our area, and when I tried to order online, they wanted $12.+ for one mag!! Does anyone have an extra copy of this mag that they don't want, or any suggestions on how to get one? $12.+ is a bit above my budget at this time. Thanks for the advice!! June

Gathering Intentions

Hello all! I am so excited to be part of this KAL. I am a relatively new knitter, so this is my first KAL, AND my first adult sized sweater! I am making "Gathering Intentions" from Fiona Ellis' Inspired Cable Knits. (My apologies to Fiona if I butchered her name...) Here is a link to a pic from Stream of Consciousness. Bobble Update, arg

I finished the first sleeve (one mistake that no one will ever notice, so it's staying). I cast on for the second sleeve... and had to promptly rip back to the ribbing. I made 2 cable mis-cross and 2 increase mistakes in the first eight rows alone. I was feeling cocky, too, since I'd made minimal boo-boos so far. But I made it past my brain lock and I'm about 30 rows into the second sleeve.

I'm looking forward to having this done in time for the weather to turn!

Just a teaser..

So I haven't started my official cable KAL project, which has finally been settled on as:

Dollar and a half cardigan from Interweave Knits Spring 2007.

But I have started this:

The Airy Wrap-Around Sweater from Fitted Knits. And it's almost done! I've only got the wraps to do, and all the cables are d-o-n-e. Word to the wise, don't try to do cables without a cable needle with mohair! Whew. For a more complete post on this project, check this post out.

Finishing up my First Central Park Hoodie

I feel like I have been knitting this forever. Many projects have jumped on my needles since I first cast this on in December. This is actually my first sweater EVER. I am proud of myself and looking forward to finishing it soon.I am making the Central Park Hoodie using Cascade 220 yarn. I am currently working on the button band, and picked up both sides at the same time. The pattern calls for doing each side separate, but that leaves an ugly seam in the middle of the hood. So, I just put it all together.

Small but still cabled

I finished a cabled hat for my daughter. I know it is just a small cable project, but there are cables none the less. The design for this set is my own, and it is knit in Twilleys Freedom Spirit yarn in the Air colorway. She insisted the hat have cables and the mitts be plain. They are knit as she wished.

I cast on one of my projects this morning: The Irish Hiking Scarf in Liisu Supersoft Merino, 'cranberry', for the Red Scarf Project. It's going pretty quickly, which is a satisfying feeling after fiddling with lace projects most of the summer.

Finishing the Sleeves

My first project for this KAL has been a WIP since January, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I've designed this myself, and so there has been a lot of trial and error. And I still need to fiddle to get the sleeve length right. This sweater is for my husband, and I've used schematic for a similarly shaped sweater from an old VK issue (the men's issue with Kaffe Fassett on the cover) to help me with the measurements. That has worked out well, except that it asks for a 20-inch sleeve. The sleeve in this picture is 17 inches, and so I may need to make it longer. But it shouldn't take more than a few weeks for it to be done, and I can start a cable sweater from scratch for me.
