Gathering Intentions - done!

I am so happy to be finished with this sweater. So I can start wearing it, that is! I already love it and can tell I will be wearing it until it falls apart. It fits just right.

Cabled Hats

Hi!

I've recently completed 2 Capitan Hats .


This one in Baby Alpaca Grande by Plymouth for me.


This one in Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky for MIL, as I really didn't like the color, but the yarn was a gift, so for a gift it went.

I'm in a cable mood lately, I have 2 other projects OTN.

Cable-Down Raglan

Although it's a little bit late, I finished it before the weather gets warm. And I am proud of myself of knitting this sweater. I don't really like cabling, but after looking at the FO, all the cabling time is worth it.



Yarn: 6.5 skeins Misti International Pima Cotton/Silk in purple

The yarn is very soft, but it does have lots of lints even before I wash it. As for the pattern, I love the top down method since I don't like seaming. It only requires a little seaming underarm.

Finished Cabled Socks

I have finished 2 pair of socks with cables. The first are my Aran Socks. I knit these in Louet Gems Sport wt yarn in Cream. This pattern will be available at The Loopy Ewe probably next week.

The second pair is the Mini Pretzel Twists I knit these in Wollmeise 100% Merino in the Zenzi colorway

Still working on the two sweaters, well every now and then anyway.

Charity Knitting

This little vest designed by Marguerite is my third finished garment for the current challenge at the CIC Yahoo Group. I knit it with Knitpicks Wool of the Andes bulky 100% wool on an Options size US 10.5 circular needle. Thanks to Marguerite for a nice and fast little pattern! I hope it will keep some little person warm.

Fetching Fingerless Mitts

I haven't been able to show much progress as far as cabled projects so far this year. I am still waiting for my Donegal Tweed in charcoal grey to arrive. Apparenlty the color I chose had been discontinued and what they sent in it's place was an oatmeal color. I have to go speak with my LYS owner this week to see what we can do about that.


I did manage to make (in one weekend) a pair of Fetching fingerless mitts . I used one skein of Berroco Jasper and size 6 needles. I also decreased a few stitches on the last row before the bind off to pull the edge in a little, but I love these gloves. They are amazingly warm and it was a fun, quick knit.

Elizabeth Bennet cabled cardigan done

After some starts and stops, I'm finally done with my elizabeth (the elizabeth bennet cabled cardigan from the book Fitted Knits).

All in all, this is a pretty nice knit. The fabric is beautiful to look at (the angora/merino blend makes for a very fluffy, soft material). The fabric actually is probably the most impressive part of the knit... well that and maybe the cables along the sleeves which I love! Some of the other photos on my blog show the cables which cover the peplum and the sleeves. They really make the sweater.

One thing I learned during the knit of this sweater is the impact that open cables can have on the flair of a sleeve. This pattern, as written, has a fairly wide cable at the bottom of the sleeve which stays open and creates a bit of a bell bottom effect. I did several adjustments (with trial and error) and ended up with straighter sleeves which is my preference.

So all in all, it took some time, but yeah! she's done!

Log Cabin Socks

These were my husbands Christmas socks.

I used 2 skeins of Cascade Pastaza color 066. I had bought 3 but never needed to break out the third skein.

Knittypants

Fern is done

Late breaking news, I'm not so very good at the take your own picture in the mirror business.

I got busy, putting on the collar of Fern this evening, and finshed her up. My daugher says it's the prettiest thing I've ever made. I disagree, but I do think that it came out quite nicely.

Hey, should there be a Fall Cables 2008, I'll see you there, probably with a red Henry VII.

Central Park Hoodie

Well, since I finished Patrick in such a timely manner and Beth asked me to knit this for her I thought that I'd KAL again!!
This is the Tahki donegal tweed that Beth chose for her Central Park Hoodie - I just love how deep & rich the purple is.

Rowan Patrick

I finally set myself a deadline and met it! It fades quite a bit with the initial washing and just keeps getting whiter. Patrick was finished and delivered on December 31^st and Julie put it on and wore it the rest of the day!!
It's truly the ultimate compliment that she wore out the 1^st one and that this one is destined for the same fate.

Wow... I am so impressed with everyone's projects! Thanks for all the inspiration.

I took a little detour from my cabled cardigan and knit up a Shedir for a friend's mom.




I'd strongly recommend this knit... pretty easy, but just enough attention needed to keep it interesting. The final project looks fantastic (according to me and the recipient!).

Clessidra is done!

I have been computer-less for a few weeks, and just LOVE all the new posts I came back to. Everyone's been working hard! I have finally finished my first cabled project for the fall, Clessidra from Knitty. Although I have never taken so long to make a pair of socks before, these have been very fun to knit and I am so happy with the results!

Vintage Cabled Sweater Update

This has been a slow knit, in part because we moved and in part because the pattern is actually a tad labour-intensive. Nonetheless, the vintage cabled sweater is a fun knit and I think it's looking gorgeous. I can't wait to finish!!

Little Blue Pullover

This is a child's pullover which I knit for my 7-yr old niece. Instructions are from "Arans & Celtics - The Best of Knitters" although I used charts from the matching cardigan. I have also finished the matching Teddy Bear sweaters and will post photos in a day or two.

Annie's Butt Skirt

I still haven't even bought the yarn for Cables Milano yet.

Instead, I am knitting the cover skirt in Annie Modesitt's book, Romantic Hand Knits. In her book, she called it An Affair to Remember Tulip Skirt. In her blog, Annie called it the "Butt Skirt". It does have 4 small 4x4 cables and diagonal traveling cables.

I tried it on before I hit the lace section, about micromini length on me. The diagonal detail is really very flattering. I was worried about the negative ease, but Annie knows what she is doing.

You can follow the thread on my blog about the creation of this skirt. I modified the pattern slightly, substituting Cotton Ease for the Amaizing yarn, using a decorative elastic instead of a knit casing, and adding a lining for modesty and comfort.

Nantucket Progress

This is my current cable project:  The Nantucket Jacket from Interweave Knits Winter 2006.  I have finished the back and right front.  I will cast on the left front and hopefully finish that this week.  Here's a couple of pictures of my progress.  I am knitting it from Swish Worsted in Bordeaux on 9 needles.


I knit it a little short and then stretched it for blocking.  I blocked the back as soon as I finished to check to be sure that this worked.
